Gary Sturgess holds the NSW Premier’s Chair in Public Service Delivery at the Australia and New Zealand School of Government, and is Professor of Public Service Innovation at Griffith University. He is the former Director-General of the NSW Cabinet Office and spent ten years in the UK as head of a corporate think-tank established by the global public service company, Serco Group plc. In 2015, he chaired the NSW government’s inquiry into ridesharing which resulted in the legalisation of Uber, and he currently chairs a interdepartmental committee advising the NSW Minister for Corrections on commissioning and contestability in prisons.
