Topic: ‘Tumble down white fellows’ –The Bathurst War 1822 to 1824

In his recently published book Gudyarra. The First Wiradyuri War of Resistance, award winning historian Dr Stephen Gapps tells the story of the occupation of Wiradyuri Country and the resistance warfare between 1822 and 1824 around the Bathurst region. In this talk, Stephen will explore how effective this resistance warfare really was; how the British regarded it as a war at the time, and how we have failed to truly comprehend and commemorate the Bathurst War.
