Global Issues: People, Race, Identity
Saturday 16 July 2016
1 pm – 4.30 pm

Dramatic shifts in population brought about by war, militarism and social, political, economic and environmental change have altered the patterns of human population on a global scale. Entire communities have been displaced. Others face an uncertain future. Australia is not immune from these changes and they are challenging us to make sense of our identity and where we belong.
Distinguished speakers including Dr Mehreen Faruqi MLC: Keynote address: Identity and Place Lee Lewis (Artistic Director Griffin Theatre): Australian Theatre. Don't stop now, we're just getting to the good part
Dr Noah Bassil (Senior Lecturer, Director, Centre for Middle East and North African Studies): The permanency of the politics of Australian Racism: Billy Hughes to Hanson
Dr Robert Carr (Researcher, Western Sydney University): Can we get our generosity back? The legacy, implications and history of the Kosovar refugees in Australia.
Cost $30.00
